Almería, Spain

Rénovation et Construction

Virtual tour of a traditional house in the province of Almeria, Andalucia, Spain. A formidable house with espectacular views of Sierra Nevada Natural Park, the fertile Andarax Valley, and the Tabernas desert, half an hour from the capital and the Mediterranean Sea. Surely one of the oldest houses in the town of Instinción (La Alpujarra of Almeria), and one of the last preserved in its original state. This chalet guarantees a healthy life for a large family, close to the shops, pharmacy, cafes, doctor's office, post office, town hall, and the supply of fruits and vegetables that local farmers turn out through the year, such as mandarins, oranges, lemons and grapefruits, peppers, avocados, olives and olive oil, tomatoes and honey. This valley is a Garden of Eden for a healthy way of living. The architecture of this house, recently restored in an ecological manner, is organized in two floors that rise above the slopes of the Sierra de Gádor, at the exact height so that the breeze keeps its interior cool and pleasant during the hot summers. Its vernacular style, built with natural and local materials from the region, ensures a general feeling of well-being, with such intensity that the persons who visits the house feel intimately cocooned as if they were in a swallow's nest. The layout is elongated reaching 25 metres long and an average of 7 metres wide. The open spaces of this chalet, including its terraces, reveal the entire landscape of Almería, Sierra Nevada, Sierra de los Filabres, Tabernas desert, Sierra de Alhamilla, the oasis-like presence of the Andarax river below, and the high peaks of Sierra Nevada. Living in this chalet one finds oneself contemplating the mysteries of the universe, under the sun, under the moon, and under the bright stars, making it a paradise for lovers of nature, or passionate writers like Hemingway.
