CUC Alumni, Anastasiya Camp BA ’20 and Sara Nordling BA ’85 n nAnastasiya Camp creates archival inkjet photographic prints of wildlife. Animals have been her passion since childhood. She depicts them living their daily lives. This collection was put together to remind us of the silver linings this past year has shown us and how this experience (Covid 19 lock down) gave us time to recharge, restart and admire all of God’s creatures. Camp hopes these photographs of wildlife will inspire you and remind you to look for the light among the dark through nature. n nSara Nordling’s primary expression is seen in woven textiles. She is fascinated by the multitudes of disparate threads that get organized into a unified cloth, which even when simple is complex. She finds joy in pushing the limitations of the loom in her weavings. One way in which she pushes against the limits is with double weave cloth. That is, cloth that is woven with more than one layer. At times these layers are distinct, at others they are so integrated that careful scrutiny is required to distinguish the layers. Using this technique she is able to achieve areas of color and combinations of color and design that one cannot achieve in any other way. Designing and weaving within the parameters and limitations is a challenge and Sara compares it to the myriad of voices in a choir. Her works truly echo the “voices” of color, beauty, and pure joy.
