The Billionth Barrel Monument, with its five arches crowned by Brunei’s coat of arms, was built to commemorate Brunei’s one billionth barrel of crude oil produced in the Seria oilfield. The monument is situated on the coast of Seria town close to the original site of the first oil well discovered in 1929. The central walkway is lined with vibrant murals painted by local artists and ends on the steps of the monument, where a view of the coast is perfectly coloured by the warm splashes of Brunei sunsets.
