The present library building was occupied in 1976. The library was named in honor of retired head librarian, Ms. Mamie Ethel Burton, during a dedication ceremony Fall of 1976. Burton Library is located near the center of the campus and provides adequate shelving space to house over 30,000 items, as well as study rooms, a computer area and special collection holdings . The library has a seating capacity of 200, between individual study and group study areas. Provisions are made for housing non-book materials and for meeting technological changes and needs.
