As part of Tesco’s commitment to improving the experience of their customers, Weatherproofing Advisors were commissioned to survey the roof and provide a detailed report of its condition and reasons behind the water ingress. Following the detailed survey, it was determined that the existing single-ply membrane was in excess of 25 years old and displaying numerous signs of ‘End of Life’. Weatherproofing Advisors provided a solution that would eliminate the water ingress and would be guaranteed for a period of no less than 25 years. In the Main field areas, a PVC single-ply membrane was installed over the existing covering with a 300g geotextile separation layer. In areas where there was significant plant, A PMMA liquid costing system was applied. To ensure clear access routes for ongoing maintenance a Red PMMA walkway was incorporated onto both waterproof coverings. Tesco has pledged to a new Group-Wide net zero target of 2035 for its open operations. With this in mind, they have embarked on an ambitious PV installation programme, subsequently a new 144.48kWp PV system was designed and installed.
